How effective is SharePoint? ›

SharePoint offers a central repository where users can store and collaborate on business content. The tool's benefits include improved efficiency, scalability and compliance. Organizations that want to enhance collaboration, content management or remote work efforts might consider Microsoft SharePoint.

The amount of Microsoft SharePoint storage for your organization is based on your number of licenses. Your organization has total storage of 1 TB plus 10 GB per license of eligible plan purchased, plus any Microsoft 365 Extra File Storage add-on purchased.

Go to Settings in the SharePoint admin center, and sign in with an account that has admin permissions for your organization. Select Site storage limits. Select Automatic or Manual, and then select Save.

SharePoint Limits: File Sizes, File Numbers, and More

250 GB maximum file size upload limit, which applies to each file uploaded to the Microsoft Teams Files tab, SharePoint document libraries, OneDrive folders, and Viva Engage conversations.

Sharepoint comes with 1TB plus some data for each user in the Office subscription. It appears that adding a second terabyte to increase the Sharepoint data pool to 2 TB costs $0.20 USD per gigabyte per month. So, to add 1 TB is (1,000 GB x $. 20) = $200 per month, or $2400 per year!

The files you store on a SharePoint site are usually available to everyone with permissions to the site, but you may want to share specific files or folders with people who don't otherwise have access to the site. When you share files and folders, you can decide whether to let people edit or just view them.

As you can see, when you hover over the document, you can see exactly who has viewed the document and when they viewed it. If you click through on X Views, you can see a timeline of when people have viewed the document and compare unique views with the total number of views.

SharePoint Add-Ins will stop working for new tenants as of November 1st, 2024 and they will stop working for existing tenants and will be fully retired as of April 2nd, 2026.
