Fort Jackson will be raising permit Fees

On August 1st Fort Jackson will be increasing the permit fees for hunting, fishing and cycling on post. These permit fees have not been increased in the past 30 years, but with the rising cost of things like seed, fertilizer, and the iSportsman program, the current fees were no longer sustainable. The cost of most permits will only increase by $10-$15 on average, and per federal regulation (Sikes Act), all funds generated through permit sales will be spent on Fort Jackson natural resources conservation, to include the iSportsman system. These costs are well below what sportsman pay off post or at other installations.

Fort Jackson offers sportsman up to 38,217 acres of huntable land for a variety of game. The land is managed to benefit the species that inhabit the installation, through practices such as prescribed burning, timber management, and the creation and planting of wildlife openings. Looking to fish? Fort Jackson has 21 ponds and 2 lakes that are home to a variety of species, and many of these ponds are stocked on a rotational basis with bass, bream, and catfish. Fort Jackson offers cyclists safe and long stretches of idle road on which to ride. The iSportsman program is the one stop shop for recreationists to purchase permits, check in to activities, find maps, as well as get important information and updates on the hunting, fishing and cycling programs.
