Poor Quality!!! Black mulch is brown.

The poorest quality mulch I have ever bought. Purchased 20 bags, started spreading, and noticed the black mulch looked brown/ fated. I got this mulch at Home Depot off a brand-new pallet that was shrink-wrapped. There is no phone number or information on the Vigoro bag to file a claim for a refund based on their "Color Guarantee" (total scam). I will not buy any of their products in the future. The quality has changed dramatically in appearance looks more like fibers I do not recommend this brand.SCOTTS is the way to go!!

Fading color in very first rain!

I purchased this mulch in black color just few days ago and after rain, I noticed it’s loosing it’s color in just about two weeks. Not buying again!

Lots of debris

This was my first Vigoro mulch purchase, and I was astonished by the lack of quality control. Non-mulch items had to be hand-picked out of each bag, creating extra work, not to mention lack of value caused by unusable materials. Building material with nails in it and large stones were the worst offenders. I am disappointed by this product.

Absolutely Awful!

Don't waste your time and money on this mulch. Vigoro must be colorblind - the mulch was supposed to be brown but is nearly black. It's not shredded well at all! I pulled out several hunks I refused to have in my garden, one was 6 inches long and about an inch in diameter. Extremely disappointed in this product and in Home Depot for carrying it.

Many shades of red

I purchased 10 bags of this mulch, 6 online and 4 at the store. After spreading them and letting them dry in the sun for two days, I had a wonderful pattern with different shades of red (see picture). I'm telling my neighbors that I am an artist creating unique designs for landscaping

I would give this product 5 stars, but some bags were shredded mulch, while others were mostly chips. I had to blend them to get a consistent look. Otherwise, the mulch was very clean, with good consistent coloring.

I used it to help keep the weeds at bay around my small young tree! I hope the weeds under this mulch die, but will have to see.

My lawn looks great with this Red Wood mulch. I was able to buy all the bags I needed for my job, thanks to the low price.

This mulch is easy to work with being 2CU FT bagged mulch. The mulch was not clean which is why I removed one star. My 24 bags of mulch had numerous pieces of trash and rocks in them. But overall a great value and really helped to make the landscape pop.

I bought over 300 bags of this product last summer, late in the season for a large landscape project. Unfortunately, the black color was already fading before the first snowfall. And when the snow melted in April, it was 50% discolored.I contacted the company that packs the product for Home Depot and they wouldn't help me out at all.Very disappointed

This mulch has been my go to for years at one of our rental properties. Great color and the 2cu bag size is great for laying out strategically and spreading to fill (& the top is easy to open at the seam)

Bones in Mulch!

While spreading it, I was surprised to find brown colored water bottle lids and brown colored fabric. My little dog found a brown colored bone and was gnawing on it! As others say, it's not mulch as it's predominately twigs, branches and sticks. Terrible quality. Do not buy!

Different Mulch in each bag!

I purchased several bags of this mulch. Despite having IDENTICAL packaging and buying on the same day at the same store, one bag had large pieces (like my prior purchase that match the rest of the mulch I had layed down) but two bags were finely shredded! Also all three bags were filled with trash (labels, bottle caps, plastic pieces). I can't return them because I already opened them --and dumped them out before I realized the difference. :-(

LOTS OF PLANT BULBS EMERGE FROM THIS MULCH!!!!

This is the 3rd time I purchase this mulch. Each time, I get some sort of bulb growth emerging out of the mulch after a month or 2. The 1st and 2nd I thought it may have been a fluke. This time is the worst by far with many more bulb growths all over my yard where I put this mulch down. It's a very hardy bulb plant too. I have to spray killer on them several times before they start to die off. I believe it's a flowering plant and it starts from a fairly large bulbs. VERY ANNOYING!!!!

Absolutely terrible

Within 24hrs of being laid out 3/4 of it has turned a different color. Absolutely not satisfied. 32 bags wasted and $127 wasted.

very smelly bark mulch

I ordered 50 bags of premium brown wood mulch, which I’ve used many times in the past and I’ve been happy with the product. This time the mulch was evidently mixed with steer manure, and it stinks to high heaven after my gardener emptied all the bags in the garden. My neighbors are complaining about the smell.. nowhere on the label or in the description did it say there was steer manure mixed in the bark. At the bottom of the pallet, there was an empty bag that said steer manure, but it’s clear there was steer, manure bmixed in every bag of the bark mulch, because of the very obnoxious odor.

Bright Red.

This 2 cu. ft. bag of Premium Red Wood Mulch is a great product that I would highly recommend. It is made of 100% redwood, which is one of the most durable woods available, so it is very long-lasting. The mulch is a nice red color that adds a nice aesthetic to any garden or landscaping project. It is very easy to spread and level out, and it helps to prevent weeds and retain moisture in the soil. It has a nice aroma to it that is not overpowering, but still adds a pleasant scent to the area. The price is also very reasonable, making it a great value for the money. Overall, this mulch is an excellent choice for any landscaping project.

Extra Chunky

I used to like this mulch. The coverage was amazing but whatever they did it is now extra chunky. Not only that the bags aren’t even full anymore. The pic with the bags the right one is one I had vs the left the one I just bought. It is about a 1/4 empty plus the pieces are large so you only get coverage equal to half of the bag on the right. The other pic is coverage of 3 bags of the new. Very disappointing product. This is now a no buy for me

Horrible quality

Not all mulch options appeared on line and I’m sad about that because i would not have purchased this to begin with. Purchased 6 bags to help with the Texas heat and to try and save plants in flowerbeds. Popped open the first bag and began to spread. I immediately noticed the large strings of wood, large chunks of some type of roots…, and a piece of actual pallet . I stopped and said oh, heck no, I’m not putting this in my flowerbeds. I packed up the remaining bags and returned them. Walked HD and found the Texas Native mulch. Someone has torn a bag open and i could see and feel what looked like a double mulch so purchased these. Don’t waste your money on the Vigoro brand. All looked and felt like chunky mulch.

Over $1,000 spent faded after just a few months!!!

I’m not sure how to execute the 2-year guarantee, though sadly ours looks extremely ok’d after just a few months.

Bags do not match

Purchased 12 bags. Come home after my gardener spread out. This looks terrible. Color and texture are totally different. This is unacceptable.

It was red and not waterlogged. Got 18 bags into the car and went to work. Plastic bags cut well with sharp box cutter. Removed offending weeds. All weeds were offensive anyway. Went with less than 8 sq ft per bag to insure > 3-inch-deep covering. Looks great as it usually does when placed.
