Serta Perfect Sleeper Mattresses: Common Attributes

Serta is best known for its Perfect Sleeper line, which has been around for decades. The company keeps the name, but does redesign the collection periodically, as it has done for the 2024 model year.

For this Perfect Sleeper collection, there are 16 total mattress models, comprised of four mini collections, each with increasingly more features, taller heights and more complex materials. The overall focus is on value and trying to incorporate some higher-end features even on the lowest priced versions, some of which can be found for as little as $600 in a queen size.

As always, you will find the Perfect Sleeper models with different names, depending on the store. Here, we have tried to describe each level (Standard, Enhanced, Ultimate, etc.) along with some of the model names we have seen, so you can compare features to what you are seeing in various stores.

On the Serta website, you'll see these as the Perfect Sleeper Innerspring collectionand the Perfect Sleeper Hybrid collection (for the top-of-the-line versions).

These are very traditional-feeling mattresses with plenty of bounce. All of the mattresses feature a traditional-looking quilted cover. All of them also feature a pocket-spring support unit -- that's unusual for a value mattress.

Most of the models include some gel memory foam, even if only a small amount, but none of the have much (of any) memory feel -- that melting into the bed sensation we associate with memory foam. All models do have anti-bacterial covers. And each mattress has some kind of enhanced support feature, though the exact features differ. All of the mattresses are compatible with an adjustable base should you choose to use one.

In addition to overall feel, the Perfect Sleeper mattresses also vary by height and price. Next, we'll walk through each of the mini collections within the Perfect Sleeper line.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Standard

The base models in the Perfect Sleeper Innerspring collection are sometimes called "Standard" and you may see them sold as the Adoring Nights mattresses. These are what we call promotional models -- they are the often-advertised Perfect Sleeper models that a retailer may showcase at a low price to get you into the store.

Here's what you're getting, along with prices that begin at about $600 for a queen size. There are three softness levels. Here's how they fall on our softness scale:

All three models feature a pocket spring support unit with 825 total coils -- along with above-average bounce. These are pretty springy mattresses!

Along the perimeter of the mattress, you get a four-inch foam frame, which assists in edge support, and it does a pretty good job.

Firmness generally tracks along with our softness scale, and due in part to the pocket coils, conformance--meaning how well the mattress conforms to the curves of your body--is good.

The added support feature in these base Perfect Sleeper models is a 3/8" band of gel that runs from side-to-side, just in the central third of the bed. It's meant as a little extra support for the heaviest part of your body, right under the hips.

The primary comfort material is Serta's PillowSoft Air foam, a soft, convoluted (egg crate) foam which adds lots of softness right under the quilted, antimicrobial cover.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Enhanced

The next models in the Perfect Sleeper Innerspring collection are sometimes called "Enhanced" and you may see them sold as the Blue Lagoon Nights mattresses. These mattresses are a little taller, with correspondingly more comfort materials on top. The employ the same 825-pocket-spring support unit that's used in the Standard/Adoring Nights mattresses, with the same four-inch foam edge support feature.

Firmness for these models also generally tracks along with our softness scale, and due in part to the pocket coils, conformance--meaning how well the mattress conforms to the curves of your body--is good.

You get quite few added features compared to the Standard Perfect Sleeper mattresses. First, all of them have a full sheet of 1/2" gel memory foam rather than just in the central third. It's really not enough memory foam to give you any memory feel, but it's there to provide some additional pressure relief.

You also get handles on the sides. This might seem like a minor addition, but we think functional handles make such a difference when it comes to rotating and moving the bed. The covers, like the Standard mattresses, have an antimicrobial feature, but added is some phase-change material. This gives the cover some slight coolness to the touch and is intended to keep you cooler as you fall asleep.

These are still very bouncy mattresses.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Ultimate

The next models in the Perfect Sleeper Innerspring collection are sometimes called "Ultimate" and you may see them sold as the Cobalt Calm mattresses. These mattresses build on top of the features found on the Enhanced/Blue Lagoon Nights models, with a 850-coil zoned support unit, with stronger/heavier coils under the hip area to support the heaviest part of your body.

Feature upgrades include a full sheet of gel memory foam from 1-2 inches thick depending on the model, and the tallest Plush Pillow Top model has 3.5"; it's the only mattress in this series that has some memory feel where you can actually feel the slow response of memory foam.

You still get handles and the phase-change cooling material. One difference -- these mattresses are a little less bouncy owing to the greater amount of foams on top of the coil unit, which absorb some of the bounce.

Serta Perfect Sleeper Hybrid

The Perfect Sleeper Hybrid collection from Serta don't have quilted covers. Rather, they have smooth and stretchy covers and more premium foams. Between the two, these mattresses have greater conformance and "sink" than the Serta Perfect Sleeper Innerspring collection.

You'll see the Perfect Sleeper Hybrid models sometimes sold as Dazzling Night or Euphoric Nights.

They are also taller, with more memory foam and memory feel, along with 850-coil count support units, side handles, and both phase-change/cooling and antimicrobial covers.

These mattresses use Serta's CoolTwist memory foam, and upgraded foam compared to the other Perfect Sleeper innerspring mattresses. The biggest difference is conformance--you just sink a lot more into these mattresses than you do with the innerspring versions. And the memory foam is right at the top of the mattress under the cover, so you are more likely to get that memory-feel sensation.

All four mattresses are still bouncy.

Warranty information for each mattress is included on the mattress "Law Label" at the store, and vary depending on the model, but is at least 10 years when purchased through Serta.com. Be sure to talk to your salesperson about warranty terms, and particularly about the body impression warranty, which will tell you how much of a permanent depression may form to be covered under warranty, since it varies by model.
